Ruth Denton Blackburn, 78, a resident of Cleveland passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at her home. She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church since 1960. Mrs. Blackburn was retired from Duracell after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and a former member of the White Oak-Prospect Ruritan Club. She was well known in the White Oak and Prospect communities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred David Blackburn; father, Ben Denton, Sr.; one brother, Ben Denton, Jr; three sisters, Hazel LeRoy, Katherine Hysinger and Charlotte Denton. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Darlene Blackburn of Cleveland; mother, Jessie Denton of Cleveland; "grand dog", Catie; sisters, Barbara Ballinger of Cleveland and Brenda Williams of Murray, KY and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Cheathem and the Reverend David Rollins officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Brian LeRoy, Dewayne Robinson, Bill Hollenhead, Davy Rollins, Dwayne Foster and Mark Bess serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
