Bobby Dean Owenby

Bob Owenby, 71, resident of Cleveland passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at his home with his family at his bedside. He lost his courageous 4 year battle with cancer. He was a Christian and a member of Stuart Park Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. Bob was employed by the Internal Revenue Service for 30 years and retired in 2000. Since then he greatly enjoyed farm life where you would often find him on his tractor or sitting on his screened in porch drinking a coke. Bob loved and enjoyed each of his 10 grandchildren; they all adored him. Bob Owenby was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend to many, he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Frances Owenby; his precious grandson, Spencer Bateman. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley Owenby; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Tammy Owenby and John David and Amy Owenby; daughter, Lisa and Chris Bateman; 9 grandchildren, Casey and Jake Owenby, Zachary, Anna Grace and Addison Elizabeth Owenby, Charles, Benjamin, Caroline and Harry Bateman; aunts and several cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Daniel Malone and the Reverend Larry Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Charlie Bateman, Benjamin Bateman, Zachary Owenby, Jake Owenby, Troy Copeland and Freddy Grubb serving as pallbearers. Don Lee, David Frederick, Fleatus Longwith, Joe Ownby, Ronald McCallum and William Gardner will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
