Jean Hamm, 85, a resident of Cleveland, passed away peacefully, February 23, 2012. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 55 years. Mrs. Hamm was born October 12, 1926 in Jacksonville, FL to the late George Joseph and Virginia Pitt Tipping. She was the past president of numerous clubs and organizations which include; The Bradley County Historical Society, The Bradley County Genealogical Society, A.A.R.P. #3412, Women's Club of Cleveland, George R. Stuart P.T.A. and the Cleveland High School P.T.A. She was involved in and was a member of Habitat for Humanity, The Museum Center at Five-Points, Creative Arts Guild and Bridgemakers. She also served as Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and was a member of Gleamers Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and Friends at Broad Street United Methodist Church. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi and a former Miss Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard Hamm and her siblings, George J. Tipping, Jr., Robert Tipping, Richard Tipping and Virginia Tipping Norton. She is survived by her children, Shirlene Hamm Allen, L. Dave Hamm, Karen Hamm Bryant (Greg) and Andrea Hamm Wichman (Louis); grandchildren, Stephanie Bryant Godfrey, Paige Wichman, Carrie Allen Coleman, Jasen Bryant, Tarah Allen Comer, Farah Allen and Joshua Wichman; 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and her two sisters, Violet Tipping Tuenge and Carol Tipping Christensen Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Wickes officiating. A private entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jasen Bryant, Joshua Wichman, Matthew Norton, Dr. Tim Coleman, Brian Comer, Farah Allen and L. Dave Hamm serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2012 at the funeral home and from 1:00 - 2:00 Saturday prior to the service.
