V. Davis Dunn

V. Davis Dunn, 84, a resident of Old Fort passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in a local healthcare facility. He was a graduate of Polk County High School, Class of 1945. Mr. Dunn retired from Bowater Corporation after 35 years of service. He was a member of Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and was treasurer for 35 years. He was also a 50 year member of the Conasauga Lodge #396 F & AM. He was preceded in death by parents, Daniel and Winnie Hazel Davis Dunn and his grandson, Rusty Swafford. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Standridge Dunn of Old Fort; daughter, Deborah Dunn Swafford and husband, Morris of Old Fort; grandchildren, Joey Swafford and Keith Swafford, both of Old Fort and several cousins, many close friends and church family. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Dr. Glenn Brister officiating. Interment will follow in Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery with Bill Davis, Kip Davis, Joe Davis, Doug Davis, Tony Schlaeger and Lynn Davis serving as pallbearers. The Elders of Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00, Friday, February 24, 2012 at Fike Funeral Home and 12:00 - 1:00 at the church prior to the service on Saturday.
