Myra Lou Millaway, 94, a resident of Bradley County passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at a local hospital. Born in Meigs County in 1917, she was the daughter of the late Millie Melton and Doc L. Millaway, SR, pioneer residents of Meigs County. She was a lifelong member of the Gum Springs Baptist Church which she supported and attended faithfully. She was retired from the Meigs County school system where she taught for 32 years. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Beulah Cofer and Ollie Miller; brothers, Chester Millaway, Thomas Millaway and Doc L. Millaway, JR. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Irene Millaway of Tullahoma; niece, Ann Daniels of Tullahoma; nephews, Roy Millaway and Billy Millaway of Cleveland, Doc L. Millaway, III, of Decatur, Curtis Millaway of Tullahoma and Kenneth Millaway of Manchester; many close friends; relatives, Judy Hooper and Doug Miller and her devoted church family. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend David Cross and the Reverend David Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnston Cemetery in Meigs County with Billy Millaway, Bo Ellis, D.L. Millaway, III, Doug Miller, Aon Miller and Curtis Millaway serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
