Helen R. Smith

Helen R. Smith, 81, a resident of Cleveland passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at a local healthcare facility. She was a member of Mine City Baptist Church in Ducktown, where she was active in W.M.U. She was a retired L.P.N. from Copper Basin Hospital and Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mattie Hawkins Arp; son, James Harold Smith and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Rev. William Hoyt Smith of Cleveland; two children, Pat Hamby and husband, Dee of Hiwassee Dam, N.C. and Danny Joe Smith and wife, Jayne of Cleveland; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and brother, Sam Arp of Knoxville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Mine City Baptist Church with the Reverend Terry Callahan officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church prior to the service. Arrangements are by Fike Funeral Home.
