Jimmy Lee Lane

October 16, 1936 — January 3, 2012

Jimmy Lee Lane, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, January 3, 2012 at the age of 75. Jim was born in Birchwood, TN and lived in Meigs and McMinn counties. He had resided in Charleston, TN for the past 27 years. He was a graduate of Meigs County High School, Cleveland State Community College and Tennessee Wesleyan College. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Calhoun United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Limestone Lodge #176. Jim was a retiree of Schering Plough Health Care Corporation in Cleveland, TN. He was a former co-owner for 20 years of the American Barber Shop. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice Lane; daughter, Meredith Lane Carrick; sister, Delores Meeks and two nieces, Pam Poole Hampton and Vicki Poole White. He is survived by his wife, Martha Lane of Charleston; children, Charles (Chuck) Beasley and wife, Kristin of Riceville and Brian Beasley of Lakeland, FL; grandson, Brett Beasley of Lakeland, FL and step-grandson, Alex Carrick of Loretto, TN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Beverley Johnson of Cleveland; uncle, L. J. Moon of Harrison, TN and aunt, Merle Dene Priddy of Ooltewah. Jim also leaves behind a large, loving extended family of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Mary Parsons and the Reverend Hugh Bryan officiating. Interment will follow at McInturff Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. The family suggests that memorials be made to Calhoun United Methodist Church, 820 Highway 163, Calhoun, TN 37309 or to the Meredith Lane Carrick Scholarship Fund at Cleveland State Community College, Cleveland, TN 37312. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a Masonic Service beginning at 7:30.
