Roger W. Ownby

Roger W. Ownby, 62, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 in Lakeland, FL. Mr. Ownby was born in Cleveland, TN on Nov. 11, 1949 to the late Estel and Lucille Ownby. He was a 1967 graduate of Bradley Central High School before going on to his career as the Purchasing Manager for 24 years for COMCAR Industries. He had resided in Florida since 1979. He was a former member of Waterville Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN and a current member of Christ's Promise, A United Church of Christ, Auburndale, FL. Mr. Ownby is survived by his partner of 33 years, Ron Booth of Lakeland, FL: three aunts, Ruth Ownby and Mary Wooten of Cleveland and Eileen Rogers; uncle, Ray Ownby of Cleveland and numerous cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Rackler officiating. A graveside service and interment will be Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Walland, TN.
