Howard Freddie Clowers, 83, a longtime resident of Cleveland passed away Monday, September 5, 2011 at the family residence. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where he served in the Vestry and on other committees. He served in the US Navy and US Marine Corps. He was a member of the VFW #40&8 and the American Legion. He served on the Bradley County Election Commission and was honorary member of the State General Assembly. He was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Wallace Wilkinson of Kentucky. He also served a term on the Fort Loudon Regional Library Board. Survivors include his wife Evelyn Plank Clowers of Cleveland; children, Joseph P. Little (Sherry) and Anna Laurie Watkins (Joseph); grandchildren, Chelsea Little, Curt and Cato Watkins; great grandchildren, Miguel, Antonio and Theresa. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Dr. Joel Huffstetler officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Terry Johnson, Parnell Caldwell, Chris Plank, Joe Watkins, Kurt Watkins and Joey Little will serve as pallbearers.
