John G. Eubanks

John Gilbert Eubanks, 84, resident of Cleveland passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011at his home. He was a member of Westmore Church of God and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was an officer with the Cleveland Police Department for 12 years and was employed with the Allied Bendix Corporation for 30 years. Mr. Eubanks was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Scenic Lodge #8 (longest serving member in the state of Tennessee). He was preceded in death by his father, John Guy Eubanks, mother, Eula Eubanks Lawhorn, sister, Mildred Eubanks Carthen, twin brother, James Guy Eubanks, brother Vernon Eubanks and 4 sisters-in-law. Survivors include his wife, Dalphine "Dee" Eubanks of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, John G. Eubanks and Melanie D. Eubanks of Cochran, GA; grandchildren, Jonathan Chadwick Eubanks (Sheri Lynn) Sacramento, CA Ashley Brooke Eubanks of Cochran, GA and Joshua Caleb Eubanks,USMC, North Carolina; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Peggy Iris Pope (William) of Carrollton, VA; brothers, Edwin Eubanks of Durham, NC and William Earl Eubanks of Portsmouth, VA; brother-in-law, Phillip C. Pearson of Jacksonville, Fla.; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Cecil Giles, the Reverend Max Morris and the Reverend Josh Thomas officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, NC The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
