Billy "Bill" Hancock, 79, a resident of Cleveland and formerly of Huntsville, Alabama passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 in a Huntsville hospital. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. He was employed as a mechanical engineer with the Federal Aviation Administration and NASA before retirement. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a member of the Masons and Shriners. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie "Jackie" Hancock, who passed away in 2006; parents, Will and Hattie Hancock; sisters, Lula Melton and Dorothy Prince; brothers, Joe Hancock and Jim Hancock. Survivors include his son, Billy Derek Hancock and wife, Connie of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Rhonda Nichols and husband Dean of New Market, AL; grandchildren, Billy Derek Hancock, Jr., Kristy Hancock, Christopher Hancock, Lauren Ashley Hancock, Rebekah Nichols, Tyler Sharp and Derrick Blackwell; great grandson, Memphis Jace Hancock and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard McKeehan officiating. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
