Delbert Campbell

September 28, 1924 — July 12, 2011

Delbert Campbell, 86, a resident of Cleveland went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July, 12, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church for 54 years where he was a member of the Grace Men's Sunday school class. Delbert was a 50 year member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge, 134 F& AM, and was a Shriner. He retired from Volunteer Electric after 32 years of service. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army Air force. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther (L.O.) and Leona Rymer Campbell; brother and wife, Roy and Winona Campbell and sister, Reba Stepp. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth P. Campbell, of Cleveland; children, Eddie Campbell, Pat and husband, Ronnie Whaley, and Joyce and husband, Dan Elliott, all of Cleveland; 6 grandchildren, Wendy Doty, Jeremy White, Justin White, Brandi Pirkle, Tanner Whaley and Blake Cantrell; 3 step-grandchildren, Teri Boyd, Sara Hayes and Christina Elliott; he is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; sister, Wilma Wilcox and brother-in-law , Roy Stepp, both of Cleveland. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Langford, the Reverend Arris Cavender and the Reverend Jerry Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Eddie Campbell, Tanner Whaley, Blake Cantrell, Jeremy White, Matt Doty, Justin White and Clint Pirkle serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Grace Men's Sunday school class A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
