Bobby Joe Goodman, 72, of Cleveland, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Easter afternoon. He was a devoted, loving husband, dedicated daddy, fun loving papaw and great grandpa, caring brother-in-law and great friend. He went to Heaven from his home after a long battle with cancer. He was a dedicated charter member of Tasso Baptist Church. He graduated from Bradley High School. He loved spending time helping friends and neighbors. His favorite place to be was at the lake with family and friends. He retired from Peyton's South Eastern. He also worked at C.F.Industries and Burlington Woolen Mill. He served our country in the National Guard. He prayed for and supported our service men and women every day. He was a very patriotic man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Irene Sprouse Goodman; father-in-law, Joe Cephas Geren and brother-in-law, Dennis Burns. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ethelle Geren Goodman; two daughters and son-in-laws, Rhonda Goodman McAlister and husband David and Schonna Goodman Linn and husband Eddie; four grandchildren, Tiffany McAlister Sims and husband Dustin, Daniel McAlister and wife Ashley, Kent Linn and Ashley Monique Linn; four great grandchildren, Kynslei, Kyra, Lance and Lyla; mother-in-law Edna Bigham Geren; brother-in-laws, Joe Cephas Geren, Jr. and wife Judy and Rick Geren; sister-in-law, Rita Geren Burns; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 2:00p.m. in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Cawood and the Reverend Keith Watson officiating. Brandon Burns, Shane Geren, Leroy Gibson, Danny Sprouse, Scott Bigham and Leon Kassee will serve as pall bearers. Honorary pall bearers will be Mr. Goodman's cousins, the men of Tasso Baptist Church and friends from Peyton's Southeastern and C.F.Industries. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
