Ila Henderson

Ila Henderson, 85, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, April 04, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Ila was a 1945 graduate of Bradley Central High School and attended Cleveland State Community College. She was a charter member and Treasurer of the Blythe Avenue Baptist Church. She retired from the Bradley County Nursing Home and she was a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary and a 49 year member of the FCE. She was preceded in death by her best friend and husband of 65 years plus, Ralph K. Henderson; her parents, Andrew and Martha Jenkins; brothers Clyde, Ira and Jerry Jenkins and her sister, Velma Jenkins Rominger. She is survived by three daughters, Gail Cunningham, Sara Carroll and Susie Starnes and husband Rick; grandchildren Michael (Kathryn) Harvey, Diane (Darin) Lafferty, Jason Harvey, Andy (Cherie)Woody, Jeneda Trentham, Casey (Amy) Starnes, Chuck (Marilyn) Carroll, Jakie (Emily) Starnes and Ken (Michelle) Carroll; 15 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Joe Brooks and the Reverend Sam Taylor officiating. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 1:00 at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. Michael Harvey, Jason Harvey, Andy Woody, Casey Starnes, Chuck Carroll, Jakie Starnes, Ken Carroll, Michael Harvey II and Matthew Harvey will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 5:00- 8:00 at the funeral home prior to the service.
