Arlee Morgan

May 18, 1920 — March 30, 2011

Arlee Morgan, 90, of Charleston, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Bradley County and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of Council Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon Emeritus for over 50 years. He worked as a machinist at Charleston Hosiery and served in the U.S. Army. He and his wife were also foster parents for 17 years and fostered over 26 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Sahra Morgan and brothers Earl and Roy Morgan. He is survived by his by wife of 66 years, Augustes "Guss" Morgan; children Gaynelle Lunsford and husband Bill of Eads, TN and Larry Morgan of Charleston; three grandchildren Scott Lunsford, Amanda Bryd and Curtis Morgan; four great grandchildren and his brother C.L. Morgan. He is also survived by a host of friends, cousins and his church family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Keith Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Council Baptist Church Cemetery. Richard Beoher, Dean McAlister, Glen McAlister, David McAlister, Phil Liner and Kenneth Rayburn will serve as pallbearers.
