Edna Lee Beaty Smith

April 15, 1915 — February 21, 2011

Edna Lee Beaty Smith, 95, a longtime resident of Bradley County passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at her home. She was the "oldest" member of Philippi Baptist Church. She was a past President of the Home Demonstration Club of Cleveland. She enjoyed picking blackberries and giving them away. In 1982 she was given the Appreciation-Recognition of Distinguished "Service", "Loyalty" and "Devotion" award for 30 years of service at the Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mont and Mae Hansard; first husband, Earnest Beaty; second husband, Denise Smith. Survivors include her son, Dean Beaty and wife Linda of Cleveland; many special friends, including: Agnes Withrow, Annmarie Keasler, Barbara Beaty and Diane Heil; 8 stepchildren, Vanda, Sandy, Gail, Denise, Donna, Valerie, Kim and Joan; and several step-grandchildren and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Sammy Hooker officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Dean Beaty, Lake Harden, Gary Lynn, Denny Collins, Bud Swallows, Ronnie Parker, John Earls and Darrell Bottoms serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rudy Beaty and Jim Stuman. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
