Jack Owen, 90, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011. He was retired as owner/operator of Jack Owen Grocery Store after 40 years of business. Mr. Owen was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being outdoors. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. He was a member of the 825th Tank Destroyer Battalion and saw action in England, France and Germany. He participated in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Minerva Shields Owen and his sister, Thelma Woods. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy "Dottie" Jones Owen of Cleveland; daughter, Misty Eubank and husband, Charles of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Jason Crowe and wife, Amanda of Decatur, Ashley Eaton and husband, Steven of Cleveland and Chase Eubank of Cleveland; four great grandchildren, Ayden Eaton, Trace Eaton, Emilee Perry and Alex Gann; nephew, Dallas Woods; and niece, Pat Wilson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard McKeehan officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. Jason Crowe, Chase Eubank, Steven Eaton, Terry Jones, Robert Wilson III and Bill Watson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be George Martin, Boyd Bishop and Charlie Eubank. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
