Sam Hill, 79, a long time resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in a Chattanooga healthcare facility. He retired from the auto body repair business as owner/operator. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. Sam was well known for his love of music. He had a special gift of playing and making guitars. He was also a pilot. Sam had a zest for life, loved all his family and was a kind and true gentleman. He was of the Christian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Cordie Hicks Hill and his grandson, who he loved so much, Aaron Neloms. He is survived by his wife, Ina "Chick" Hill; children, Dean Hill, Suzette Dover and Deborah Hayes; grandchildren, Dustin Hayes, Sam Hill, O'Neal Dover, Jake Hill and Adam Hill; great grandchildren, Brendan Hayes and Navaeh Hill; sisters, Celia Black and Imogean Burns of Athens and Pauline Lowe, Perline Buckner and Billy VanScoy; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Marshall Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dustin Hayes, Nick Hayes, Brendan Hayes, Sam Black, Neal Dover, O'Neal Dover, Jake Hill, James Fields and Buster Visage serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
