William A. "Bill" Hatcher, 86, a longtime resident of Calhoun died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in a local healthcare facility. Mr. Hatcher was a veteran of the US Marines, serving during World War II. He was employed with Bowater Paper Mill for 32 years before his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Hatcher, Sr. and Mary Burnette Hatcher; his wife, Jinnie Hatcher; sons, William A. Hatcher, III, Kenneth Hatcher and Peter Hatcher; sisters, Lillian and Hazel Hatcher. Survivors include his sister, Fay Fox; niece, Susan Fox Thomas and her children, Hanna, Jake and Tanner Thomas and dear friend, Betty Bowman of Charleston. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Calhoun United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mary Parson and the Reverend Hugh Bryan officiating. Interment will follow in the Calhoun Cemetery with military honors. Junior Eaves, Lynn Freeman, John Zurn, Pat Patterson, Bob Fortney, Ted Quintard, Jimmy Hatcher and Gary Barham will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Monday at the church prior to the service.
