Ora Smith Humberd, 96, of Benton, Tennessee died on Sunday, October 31, 2010. She was a native of Overton County, Tennessee and lived in Bradley and Polk Counties most of her life. She influenced and enriched many students' lives in her long teaching career at Mayfield Elementary School. She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church; the DAR and Retired Teachers Association. She loved to collect quilts and lace and was certified as a Master Teacher of needlework. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton G. Humberd, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Milton G. Humberd, Jr. and wife, Susan Petty Humberd of Cleveland and David S. Humberd and wife, Marlene Young Humberd of Benton; and two grandsons, Jon Humberd of Cleveland and Dan Humberd of Knoxville. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Melton officiating. Her family will receive friends following the memorial service Wednesday at the funeral home.
