Henry G. Miller

Henry "Hank" G. Miller, 78, a resident of Cleveland went to his heavenly home, Saturday, October 23, 2010 with his loving wife of 36 years at his side. He was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church of Cleveland where he had been a member for the past eight years. At Broad Street, he was active in congregational care and had a deep devotion for visiting shut-in's and those in the nursing home. He was also a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Chester Springs, PA. He was highly ethical in every way. He was a veteran of the US Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War, from September of 1952 to August of 1954. He remained in the inactive Army Reserves until he was honorably discharged in 1960. Mr. Miller earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Iona College in New York in 1957. His career included 10 years of employment at John Wanamaker Department Store in Philadelphia. He was also a merchandise manager in the furniture industry for many years. In retirement he worked in men's clothing retail. He enjoyed horseback riding with his wife, Sandy and sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. He enjoyed singing the old Irish melodies, and a favorite of his was "Danny Boy" that he learned from his mother. He was an avid reader of all types of literature and absorbed everything he read. The handkerchief in his pocket showed his grace and charm, he called it his panache. He was a loving father who was actively involved with his children. One fond memory was his role as Chief of Indian Guides (boys only) and his creation of Indian Princesses. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Margaret Miller and sister, Joan Favata. Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra of Cleveland; three children, Chris Miller of Chicago, IL, Vikki Robinson of Haleysville, PA, and Gregg Miller of Westchester, PA; four grandchildren, Tessa and Timmy Robinson and Rayna and Aidan Miller. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2010 at the Broad Street United Methodist Church with the Reverend Reed Shell and the Reverend Debbie Stokes officiating. Interment of the cremains will be in the St. Peters United Church of Christ Cemetery in Chester Springs, PA. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the church narthex prior to the service.
