Donald R. Miller

Donald Reed Miller, 73, resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010 in a local hospital. He was a member of Thompson Springs Baptist Church since 1961. Mr. Miller retired from the US Army National Guard after working as a heavy duty mechanic for 42 years. He was a veteran of the US Army where he was awarded the St. Barbara Award, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a member of the Conasauga Masonic Lodge #396 and Disabled American Veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Anderson Miller and Nelda Ree Foster Miller and brother, Foster Miller. Survivors include his wife, Christine Clabough Miller of Cleveland; daughters, Marquetta Lynn Humphrey and husband Larry, Reenelda Jane Phillips and husband Craig all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Clint Humphrey, Christina Humphrey and Megan Phillips; brother, Kenneth Miller of Cleveland; sister, Joann Dunn of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Joe White officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Tim Dunn, Scott Satterfield, Don Still, Josh West, Jake Broome and Brent Forshee will serve as pallbearers. Dewey Lewallen, Gene Meador, George Martel, Tommy Townsend, Jeff Fletcher and Arless Stonecipher, members of Conasauga Masonic Lodge #396 and DAV Chapter 25 will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
