Evelyn Mason Douglas, 92, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, September 02, 2010 in a local healthcare facility. She retired from Life Care Center of Cleveland in 1988 after 22 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Cleveland Logan and Lola Viola Carroll Logan; two husbands, William Walter Mason and Ransom "Doc" Douglas; son, Billy Joe Mason; grandson, Virgil Walter D. Laughter; son-in-law, James "Sonny" Rapier; two brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by her children, Doris Bates and husband, Vance, Carol Rapier and Jerry Mason and wife, Diane, all of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Rosetta Mason of Cleveland; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Womack and the Reverend Larry Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with Larry Mason, Ricky Mason, Tymn Goforth, Dewayne Laughter, George Townsend, Joe Townsend and Matt Jackson serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
