Terry J. McGuire, 63, a resident of Cleveland passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010 in a local hospital. He was a member of the Community Hall Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in Germany. Mr. McGuire was a 1965 graduate of Bradley Central High School. He was an Eagle Scout in Troop 132. He was an American Red Cross volunteer where he and Warnie Finnell and Ruth Heston began the local summer swim program. He was formerly on the Red Cross Board in Cleveland. He was past chapter chairman for the March of Dimes. Mr. McGuire currently was serving as chairman of the Bradley County Fire Board, chairman of the Bradley County Board of Zoning Appeals and vice-chairman of the Bradley County School Board. For over 25 years he promoted Southern Gospel Singing along with Jerry Foster in the Cleveland-Chattanooga area. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Frances McGuire and brother, Paul Ray McGuire. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Eugenia McGuire of Cleveland; father, Paul J. McGuire of Cleveland; brother, Clyde McGuire and wife, Kathee of Theodore, AL; nephew , Marc McGuire and wife, April and their children, Mia and Mollie, all of Mobile, AL; and special mother-in-law, Imogene Woods of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Perry Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Shane Castelow, Landon Swanger, Hoyt Clark, Tim Posey, Terry Posey and N.C. Cartwright will serve as pallbearers. Ralph Castelow will serve as an honorary pallbearer. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the funeral home.
