Hoyt H. Fitzsimmons, 84, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010, in a local hospital. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during World War II. He was employed as an industrial relations manager with ICI America (TNT plant) for 41 years. He was a member of Tyner United Methodist Church as well as the V.F.W. and American Legion. He loved and greatly enjoyed his farm work and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.J. and Eleona Cogburn Fitzsimmons, as well as his sisters: Myrtle Mantooth, Sally Brooker, Edith Fox, Mona Miller and Pearl Frazier Kaiser, and his brother, Bill Conner. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda N. Fitzsimmons of Cleveland; sons: Hoyt Houston Fitzsimmons, Jr., and James Frederick Fitzsimmons; daughter, Bettye Fitzsimmons Crawford; grandchildren: Terry Fitzsimmons, Trina F. Parker, Shannon Harris, Brent Talley, Keely F. Wills and Jay Fitzsimmons; five great grandchildren; sisters: Lilly Sample and Winnie Triplett Mills; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Debbie Stokes officiating.
