Sherry Faye Beaty Tunks passed away at her home Saturday, February 13, 2010. Sherry was born in Birmingham, Alabama December 13, 1937. She moved to Cleveland with her family when she was a child. She was a graduate of Bradley High School, class of 1957. Sherry attended Tennessee Wesleyan College and was a graduate of Atlanta Business College. She was office manager of Georgia Marble Co. in Atlanta for fifteen years before she moved to Philadelphia and then to Dallas, Texas with her husband. Sherry loved Dallas and made many lifelong friends there. Upon her return to Cleveland, she worked with and retired from Guy Roofing Company. She loved trips to the beach, Nascar and the movies. Sherry with her sister and nephew spent time in Tucson with their dog, Whitney and Cali-cat, also enjoying a fun trip in her R.V. to the surrounding areas. Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Lois (Willie) Baker Beaty; grandparents, Thomas Portman and Bertie Beaty of Cleveland; Sarah and William I. Baker; uncles, Owen and Buck Baker; aunt, Mary Lou Arledge all of Birmingham; aunt Hazel and Bert Billig of Cleveland and constant companion and family pet, Whitney. Sherry is survived by her father and step-mother, Earl and Donna Anderson Beaty; step-brothers, Steve (Janice) Anderson of Nashville, Dale Anderson and their children and grandchildren; uncle, D.Z (Peggy) Beaty of Cleveland; sister, Brenda Remine and adored nephew, Thomas Vichael Holland and several loving cousins and their families of Cleveland; Jennifer and Alison Miller of Birmingham; her "Friends like Sisters" and chosen second families, Faye Holmes and her children, Greg Holmes and Yvette Waddell, Norma (Richard) Davis and their children, Jean (Jack) Hall, Curt (Teresa) Davis, Tyler (Theresa) Greeson, god-child and namesake, Sherry (Tim) Bryant; sister-friend and forever aunt, Midge Crawford and family. She was affectionately called Big Grandmother by their grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Gary Sears officiating.
