Theresa Gilbreth

Theresa Agnes Goodner Gilbreth was born in Cleveland TN., March 2, 1914 and went to be with Jesus Friday morning February 5, 2010 in Ormond Beach, Fl. Theresa was born to Lou Anne Mc Brien and Thomas Rueben Goodner in Cleveland, TN. She graduated from Red Hill School where she played basketball. She attended Bradley High School. She married Tom Gilbreth on December 4, 1938. Their daughter, Evelyn Ann, was born November 18, 1941. They operated a restaurant across from the Hardwick Stove foundry. Later along with Paul & Daisy Scoggins they managed the Pan Am Grille on South Lee Highway and were co-owners together of the Tennessee Fried Chicken Restaurant. Theresa moved to Ormond Beach, Florida in 1974. She was an employee for Belk Department Store of Daytona and Ormond Beach, Fl for 16 1/2 years before she retired. She was the top sales associate in her department. She was an excellent seamstress and liked to do embroidery. As a girl she and her Mother made tufted bedspreads. She loved to garden, grow flowers and tomatoes and was very successful at it. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Joseph Gilbreth (July 27, 1971) her parents Rueben and Lou Anne McBrien Goodner, three brothers, Waymon Goodner, Claude Goodner, and Earnest Goodner, five sisters Alma Prince, Jewel Humberd, Ruth Rogers, Pearl Smith,and Eula Crone, three nephews, J.C. Prince, Charles Goodner and Edward Rogers. She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Gilbreth Kent Garrett, granddaughter, Danna Kent, grandson, Dan Kent and his wife Laurie Kent, and two great, great grandsons, Gabriel and Michael Kent. Surviving nieces: Nancy Massey, Mary Kibble, Reba McRoy, Nora Cash, Dora Young, Wilma Langley, Betty Bowlin, and Barbara Murray. Nephews: Rueben Rogers, Nay Rogers, Jr. and Robert Rogers. Funeral service will be held Monday,February 8, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Ft. Hill Cemetery. The service will conclude with a White Dove Ceremony. Her family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
