Flora B. Blackwell, 99, a lifelong resident of Bradley County, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010 in a local healthcare facility. She was the oldest member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She worked for several years at the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Daffron and Nannie E. Suits Daffron; husband, James Fletcher Blackwell and five siblings. Survivors include her sons, Steve Blackwell and wife, Pam and James Blackwell all of Cleveland; three grandchildren: Jeanette Gooch, Stephanie Blackwell and Jasmine Blackwell; one great grandchild, Hannah Swafford and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Pastor Stephen Huff officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with James Rymer, Louis Rymer, David Frazier, Benjamin Frazier, Robert Rymer and Carl Haney serving as pallbearers. Eugene Thompson, Ronald Frazier, Avery Longwith and Jim Eslinger will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
