Nancy L. Goode

Nancy L. Goode, 76, passed away Monday, December 28, 2009 in an Athens healthcare facility. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and former member of First Baptist Church. She cared for children in her home throughout her lifetime, was a member of Blue Star Mothers of America, worked in sales with Avon for over 30 years and volunteered at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Watson Byars and Martha Maas Byars and her husband, Waldon August Goode. Survivors include her children: Linda Thomas and husband, Paul, Leila Soraya Goode and James Waldon Goode all of Benton; grandchildren: Waldon "Tad" Douglas Thomas, Jessica Goode, Kaitlyn Nichole Thomas and Joshua David Goode; brother, Ron Jay Byars of Gatlinburg; nephew, Ron Byars; nieces: MaryAnn Parker, Patsy Straub and Rhonda Weeks. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December, 31, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Caywood officiating. Private Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends from 11-1p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
