Clyde J. Sneed, 85, resident of Cleveland passed away Friday, October 9, 2009 in a local hospital. He was a very faithful member of South Cleveland Church of God, where he served in many capacities, but will be most remembered as the man who greeted everyone that entered the church doors with a smile and a handshake. Mr. Sneed was employed as a printer with the Church of God Publishing House for many years and later worked for Mayfield Dairy Farms for several years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany with the United States Army. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, William McKinley Sneed and Roxie Lamons Sneed; his wife, Lillian Sneed and sister, Louise Brackett. He is survived by his children, Danny Sneed and wife Laurie of Stowe, VT and Karen Phillips and husband Jeff of Clermont, FL; 4 grandchildren: Miranda Summer of Toney, AL, Jeremy Sneed of Huntsville, AL, Sean Hope of Pomona, CA and Ryan Hope of Clermont, FL; one great grandchild, Kara Sneed; brother, William Sneed, Jr., of Cleveland; sisters: Ada Craig, Kate Green and Betty Clabough all of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Moody and Reverend Carl Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with military honors. Jeremy Sneed, Pete Summer, Sean Hope, Ryan Hope, Larry Kimsey, Rick Green, Darryl Sneed and Steven Suttles will serve as pallbearers. Earl Daugherty, Alex Delk, Jack Holloway, Duane Lambert, Claude Ogle and J.D. Silver will serve as honorary pallbearers. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony.
