William F. "Red" Ledford, 86, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, September 28, 2009 at the family residence. He was born December 4, 1922 in Murray County, GA to the late Bertie Ledford and William Franklin Ledford, Sr. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather and devoted Christian. He attended North Cleveland Church of God. A well known local business man, he was president of Ledford Machine and Supply Company until his retirement in 1987. At the time of his death, he was vice president of D & W Machinery Inc. A World War II Veteran, he joined the U.S. Navy shortly after Pearl Harbor where he served in both the Atlantic and Pacific, he was a member of the American Legion Post #81. He is survived by his wife, Blanche L. Ledford of Cleveland; two sons and daughters-in-law: David and Pam Ledford of Cleveland and Terry and Mary Ledford of Madison, AL; six grandchildren: Jennifer Ledford, Chris Ledford, Justin Ledford, Patricia Ledford, Danielle Monroe and Autumn Monroe; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Exel Pritchard of Douglasville, GA; niece, Phyllis Wilson and nephew, Mike Patterson both of Cleveland. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastors Johnny Hood and Jack Smith and Jack Roach officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Justin Ledford, Christopher Ledford, Mike Patterson, Jeff Parker, Brandon Simonds and Randy Fowler serving as pallbearers. Jim Price and Roy Thompson will serve as honorary pallbearers. The service will conclude with military honors and a white dove release ceremony.
