Eugene N. Wheeler, Sr., 58, a longtime resident of Bradley County passed away Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the family residence. He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Wheeler enjoyed fishing, racing, working on cars and was an avid camper for many years; but his life was his grandchildren and family. He was employed with Maytag Corporation as Enamel Technician for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Wheeler; grandparents, George and Lettie McCracken. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Wanda Taylor Wheeler of Cleveland; mother, Lula McCracken of VA; children, Brandon Wheeler, Eugene Wheeler, Jr., Shane Lawson and wife Kelly and Nick Lawson all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Layne Lawson, Lauryn Lawson, Ellissa Lawson, Layla Wheeler and Elizabeth Wheeler all of Cleveland; brothers, Doug Wheeler of Cleveland, Jimmy Wheeler of Meadowview, VA; sister, Linda Helton of Meadowview, VA; several nieces and nephews; special buddies, James Taylor and Earl Reynolds; many friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Shane Lawson and Reverend Lyle White officiating. Interment will be in Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery in Charleston with Cliff Bynum, Terry Conrad, Larry McGhee, Roger Mincey, Joe Flowers and Jimmy Taylor serving as pallbearers. James Taylor, Earl Reynolds and James Duckett will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
