Haskell Edward Pierce

Haskell Edward "Hack" Pierce, 85, a resident of Birchwood passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was of the Church of God faith. Mr. Pierce was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a retired school bus driver and service station owner; he also sold produce in Birchwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Pierce and Berthie Burton Pierce; brother, William Arnold Pierce; sisters, Willy Ruth Williams, Iona Hudgins and Mildred Burmlow. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Pierce; daughters, Geraldine Wright of Cleveland and Betty Gilley and husband Bob of Kings Mountain, NC; stepsons, Don Allen Smith of Birchwood and David Smith of Ringgold, Ga.; brother, Robert Pierce of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Ronald McDowell, Reverend Bobby Gilley and Reverend David Evans officiating. Interment will follow in McInturff Cemetery in Birchwood with Tony Allison, John Thomas, Lee Shahan, Rayford Edwards, Bryant Rayfield and Carl Waddell serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the funeral home.
