Betty Sue Simmons

March 24, 1923 — September 12, 2009

Betty Sue Simmons, 86, a resident of Calhoun, TN passed away Saturday, September, 12, 2009 at the family residence. She was a member of St. Elmo United Methodist Church in Chattanooga. Mrs. Simmons and her husband owned and operated CBC Pharmacy in Calhoun from 1953 to 1973; Mrs. Simmons continued to operate the pharmacy until 1982. She was preceded in death by her parents, John B. Pinion and Amanda Liner Pinion; husband, Clifford H. Simmons; son, Carl W. Carroll. She is survived by sons: John J. Simmons and his wife Regina of Suwanee, GA., James E. Simmons and wife Lori of Georgetown, TN.; daughters: Mary Ann Duggan and her husband Larry of Charleston and Rebecca S. Friedel of Tuckahoe, NY; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Ron Sorah officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2009 in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jack Cooke, Dan Cooke, Cliff Simmons, Matthew Simmons, John Simmons, Keith Oxford, Jake Duggan and Keith Carroll serving as pallbearers. Bill Cooke, Johnny Cooke, Wayne Cooke and Joe Duggan will serve as honorary pallbearers. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 at the funeral home prior to the service.
