Cyrus S. Buckner, 87, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday September 12, 2009 in a local hospital. He was a member of Burdette Baptist Church where he served as deacon. Mr. Buckner was a truck driver for the Tennessee State Highway Department before retirement. He was a scout master for 25 years and was awarded the Silver Beaver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Scott C. Buckner and Belle Walker Buckner; wife, Clemmie Gates Buckner; daughter, Pamela Buckner and granddaughter, Karen Buckner. He is survived by sons, Marvin Buckner and wife Shirley of Cleveland, David Buckner and wife Pam of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Kenneth Buckner and wife Jan of Mead County, CO; daughters, Sandra White, Gail Williams and husband James, Nancy Gates and husband Ray all of Cleveland; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Sammy Hughes and Reverend Donald Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the Prospect Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
