Nina Marie Keith Carden, 99, a lifelong resident of Cleveland passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the family residence. She was the oldest member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was very faithful. Mrs. Carden lived a very full life; she loved to shop and travel and was a loving mother and very hard worker. She made beautiful quilts and the most wonderful fried apple pies and stack cakes. Mrs. Carden was co-owner of The Personal Card Shop for about 10 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Washington Keith and Florence Deford Keith; husband, Clifford Clyde Carden, Sr. who died in 1975; daughter, Ella Sue Carden Gaines who died in 1995; sisters, Lottie Keith, Etta Collett, Emma Spain; brothers, William Keith, Claude Keith and Lester Keith. She is survived by her daughters, Wilma Jean Hamilton, Carolyn Carden, both of Cleveland, Charlotte Askew and husband Paul of Chattanooga; son, Clifford Carden, Jr., and wife Gail of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Carlos Sibley officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with grandsons, Keith Askew, Tim Askew, Zachary Carden, Jeffrey Hamilton, Joseph Hamilton and great grandson, Jacob Blankenship serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
