Viola Sue Nation Carson, known to all as Nannie, will celebrate her 95th birthday with her Heavenly Father. She slipped away peacefully from her earthly family in her sleep. Although we are all grieving for our loss, today we are celebrating her life and many memories we all have with her. Nannie joined hands with her husband, Bruce Carson, and her son, Bill Carson. She was also greeted by her parents, Lucy and Wilburn Nation. She will be thought of often by Dot Carson (daughter-in-law), Phil and Angela Carson (grandson and wife), Jeff and Dawn Carson (grandson and wife), Suzanne and Chris Bynum (granddaughter and husband). She enjoyed 7 great grandchildren, including Philip Carson, Landin Carson, Mary Claire Carson, McKenna Carson, Kellar Carson, Chase Bynum and Madison Bynum. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Reba Jean Nation Caylor and niece, Brenda Rymer. She also left many great nieces and nephews. Nannie regularly attended North Cleveland Baptist Church and was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School class. Bruce Carson helped construct the sanctuary in the 50's and they became members in the late 60's. She watched the church grow and proudly witnessed the baptisms of all her grandchildren. While she was still active, she read the Bible daily and strongly encouraged us all. Nannie worked as a supervisor in the Sanda Hosiery Mill and later was a clothing buyer for Tots To Teens. Nannie was an active YMCA member and Senior Center member until 2006. She swam regularly and enjoyed a few rounds of cards with friends. She could be seen regularly outside her house on Georgetown Rd for the past 40 years working in her garden, flowers, or picking up leaves. So now you see why she will be sadly missed, but we invite you to join in our celebration of her life at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2009 at her church, North Cleveland Baptist with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Mike Bell, Buddy Hicks, Don Littrell, Dennis Franks, Jim Goins and Donnie Ratcliff serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m., Saturday at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the North Cleveland Baptist Church, Future Generations Building Fund, 2815 N Ocoee St., Cleveland, TN 37311. We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Carson family guestbook at www.fikefh.com Fike Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
