E. K. Davis, 80, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was of the Christian faith. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was inducted into the Bradley County Old Timers Sports Hall of Fame for playing baseball in his younger years. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing with his friends. He also enjoyed cooking and getting together with friends and family. He worked for many years at the Cleveland Daily Banner and retired from the Church of God Publishing House. He was the son of the late Henry Clay Davis and Cecil Geren Davis. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Willette Wooten; two brothers, L.D. Davis and Gilbert Davis. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Billie Jean Davis; four children and spouses: LuAnn Lawson (Warren, Jr.), Jim Hindman (Freida) all of Cleveland, Laurie Wilson (Travis) of Old Fort and Kris Davis (Linda) of Cleveland; grandchildren: Erin Jenne, Kellye Lowe, Bianca Hudson, Seth Hindman, Amanda Hindman, Lily Crumley, Ashlie Davis, Hunter Davis, Allie, Morgan, Chance, Katlin and Chloe Wilson and Arianna Davis; two great grandchildren: Will and Jake Jenne; one sister, Dorothy Senters and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Dwight Millsaps officiating. Interment will follow in Tasso United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors. Seth Hindman, Warren Lawson, Travis Wilson, Johnny Wooten, Chris Lowe and Matt Jenne will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 at the funeral home and from 1-2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
