Virginia York

Virginia L. York, 81, a lifelong resident of Cleveland passed away Saturday February 28, 2009 at the family residence. She was a member of Chestuee United Methodist Church. Mrs. York was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother, devoted to taking care of her family. She was a hard worker, helping her husband, James on their farm. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Hall and Velma Minnis Hall; sister, Gladys Dixon and grandson, Steven Eric York. She is survived by her husband of 62 years James L. York; son, Dennis York and his wife Barbara of Cleveland; daughter, Dana Burgess and her husband Steve of Cleveland; grandchildren, Stephanie Everett and husband Greg and Cindy Brooks; great grandchildren, Caden Everett and Makayla Brooks. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Chestuee United Methodist Church Cemetery with Roger York, Jerry Bishop, Ricky Hutson, Danny Hutson, Daron Miller and Donald Dixon serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the services. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
