Virginia Miller McDaris (Gin), 86, passed away June 28, 2009 in the Hospice Wing of Memorial Hospital. She was currently a resident of The Terrace at Mountain Creek in Chattanooga. She had been battling Alzheimer's for about three years. She was a native of Cleveland, born on April 24, 1923 to the late Fred and Gertrude Miller. She lived in Cleveland until 2007 and was a long time member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. She worked for Bradley Cleveland Developmental Services for thirty years where she was affectionately known as "Sarge". She was blessed with many wonderful friends there. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William F. McDaris; two sons, William F. (Chuck) McDaris, II and Thomas Andrew McDaris and brother, Fred A. Miller, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Lynne M. Goodman and her beloved son-in-law, W.L. Goodman, II of Signal Mountain; sister, Carolyn Wood of Johnson City; sister-in-law, Nancy Miller of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews and a very dear long time friend, Delores Stone. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Broad Street United Methodist Church in Cleveland with the Reverend Debbie Stokes and the Reverend Reed Shell officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Her family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, P.O.
