Dr. James E. (J.E.) Penney, Jr. 89, a resident of Cleveland passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in a local healthcare facility. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church. He was a well known dentist in this area, a veteran of the U.S. Army and received the EAME Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal with 0ne Oak Leaf Cluster and the Silver Star Badge. Although a very private person, he was a much loved and respected member of the community. He touched so many lives and was known for being so gentle and caring and appreciated his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. Penney, Sr. and Jessie Penney; wife, Julia Alma Jane Penney who passed away in the year 2007; daughter, Emily Penney Blake and husband, Robert Blake. He is survived by his daughter, Julie Penney Boyd; one grandchild, Justin Boyd and wife, Niki Boyd; two great grandchildren, Sawyer Davis Boyd and Finn Beckett Boyd all of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with military honors. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the funeral home.
