Norma Jane Burrell, 85, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 in a local hospital. Norma was the only child born to the late Hy and Verna Meehan in Peoria, IL on September 27, 1923. She earned her teaching degree from the University of IL, taught elementary school and was a librarian for over 20 years in Merritt Island, FL. She was an animal lover and especially cherished the family horses and her dogs. Her greatest love was for children. She has been a resident of Cleveland for the past seven years. She belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution, New Comers of Cleveland and was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death along with her parents were her husbands, John J. Templin and Robert L. Burrell. She is survived by her only child, daughter Jane Ann Arnold Buchanan of Cleveland and her beloved grandson, Derrek Forrest Arnold. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Broad Street United Methodist Church with the Reverend Debbie Stokes officiating. Her family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
