Ruby Nell Thornburg Hart, 75, a resident of Charleston passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009. She attended Candies Creek Baptist Church. She was employed at Cleveland Middle School in the cafeteria, where one of the joys of her life was providing food and proper nutrition to all children. She was a lifelong caregiver and welcomed many children in her home and was a loving friend to those that knew her. Mrs. Hart enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and music; but most of all she enjoyed getting together with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. "Bud" Hart; parents, Miller Thornburg and Sadie Dupree Thornburg; brothers, Gene, Tommy, Hubert, Cecil and Raymond Thornburg and sister, Mildred Thornburg Williams. Mrs. Hart is survived by three loving daughters and one son-in-law, Sharon Hart Michaels and husband Cecil of Charleston, Deb Hart of Charleston and Donna Hart Jones of Charleston; beloved grandchildren, David Michaels and wife Misti of Cleveland, Joel Michaels of Murfreesboro, Staff Sgt. Freddie A. Jones and wife Jessica of Fresno, CA., Samantha and husband Mickey Scott of Cleveland; great grandchildren, Aubrey and Gabe Michaels of Cleveland, Kerstien and Colton Scott of Cleveland, Savannah Rose Roper of Charleston, Dakota and Zachary Jones of Fresno, CA.; three very dear sisters, Doris Laney, Janice Smith and Judy Williams all of Hollins, Al.; special nephews, Gerald Mizell and wife Debbie of Cleveland and Norman Hammon and wife Julie of Tylertown, Miss.; very special and dear niece, Charlotte Clifton; numerous loving nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2009 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Jamison Work officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Hank Hayden, Phillip Shelton, Brian Muncy, Daniel Rutledge, Brandon Crenshaw and Dennis Geren serving as pallbearers. Keith Beaty. Michael Miller and Rev. Ron Sorah will be serving as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the services. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the funeral home.
