H. W. Williams, 78, a long time resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2008 after a lengthy illness. He was an especially active member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. Mr. Williams retired from Hardwick Stove Company (Maytag) following 27 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by wives: Louise (Dill) Williams and Barbara (Bullins) Williams; brothers, Mayford Williams and Newell Williams; sisters, Verna Brackett, Ida Webb and Juanita Franklin.
He is survived by one son, Craig Williams and wife, Shelley of Gales Ferry, CT; grandchildren: Rebecca Williams McVey of Boston, MA and Brian Williams of CT; sister, Cecil Williams King of Dalton, GA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Grubbs, William Graham and Glenn McAlister officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Glenn McAlister, Stan Hamby, Ron Williams, Roger Thompson, Danny Williams and Mike Henry serving as pallbearers.
His family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
