Doyle Verlin Wheeler, 75, a life long resident of Bradley County, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008 at the family residence. He attended New Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a life time member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War.
Mr. Wheeler was the son of the late Aurthur and Ruey Wheeler and was also preceded in death by a sister, Grace Dah Cantrell and a brother, William Wheeler.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beatrice Wheeler of Cleveland; two children and spouses: Valerie Wheeler Davidson and Louis Davidson of Nashville, TN and Ricky Wheeler and Debra Wheeler of Cleveland, TN; four grandchildren: Jacob Wheeler, Ethan Wheeler and Rebekah Wheeler all of Cleveland and Chrissy Davidson of Nashville, TN; one brother, Preston Wheeler of Cleveland, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2008 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Butch Hollander officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Pallbearers will be Jacob Wheeler, Ethan Wheeler, Jeff Weir, J.J. Hysinger, Jerry Philpot and Junior Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe King and Vernon Fannin.
His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2008 at the funeral home.
