Roselle Lawson Trewhitt
February 24, 1916 — November 1, 2008
Roselle Lawson Trewhitt, 92, a life long resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, November 01, 2008 in a Chattanooga hospital. She was a charter member of Waterville Baptist Church where she was the church treasurer and church clerk from its inception to the present ,spanning six decades. She was a devoted grandmother.
Her birth father, Ralph Lawson, passed away prior to her first birthday. She was reared by her mother Sudie Jenkins Lawson Humberd and stepfather, Oscar Humberd. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Trewhitt and brother, Herbert "Red" Humberd.
She is survived by her daughter Wanda Kelley and husband, Russell Kelley of Cleveland; two grandchildren: Joseph Kelley and John Kelley both of Cleveland; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Lovelace and grandson, Joseph Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Tim Ownby, Ron Chastain, Jonathan Jobe, Sam Bennett, Cliff Houk, Charles Howard and Haskell Morrow will serve as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the funeral home.
