Madge Chase Still, 99, a resident of McDonald passed away Saturday March 15, 2008 in a local hospital. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church but in later years attended the Victory Prayer House. She was a member of FRINS at Broad Street United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Still was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in the Bradley County school system for forty years. She taught in the Red Hill, Big Springs, and Prospect elementary schools.
She was a graduate of Bradley Central High School, class of 1927. Mrs. Still furthered her education at Tennessee Wesleyan College, University of Tennessee and East TN. State Teachers College in Johnson City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W. H. McKay and Alice Shanks McKay; husband, William Ernest Chase; son, George William Chase and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Still is survived by grandsons, Bart Chase and wife Aleta of Cleveland, Trey Chase and wife Barbara of McDonald, George "Chipper" Chase and Shane Chase of Chattanooga; granddaughter, Marlie Chase Jones of Chattanooga; step granddaughter, Whitney Cannon of Cleveland; six great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday March 20, 2008 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Tyler Bramlett officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery with grandsons and great grandsons serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the services.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
