Geneva Faye Shelton, 64, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, May 4, 2007 in a Knoxville hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eliza Faye "Scrappy" Grissom, three brothers, Gordon McCormack, Ernest Grissom and Johnny Ray Grissom and also one sister, Wanda Mae Haggard.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Shelton of Cleveland; children and spouses: Tina and Richard Gilliland of Benton, Nonnie and Donna Cofer of Georgetown, Thomas "Hawkeye" Shelton of Cleveland, Addie Shelton of Cleveland, Eddie Dean Shelton of Cleveland and Johnny and Linda Shelton of Georgetown; three brothers and spouses: William "Corney" and Melba McCormack of Cleveland, Lloyd "Peanut" and Edith Grissom and Jimmy D. Grissom all of Cleveland; two sisters: Glenda Sue Whaley of Cleveland and Barbara D. Couey and husband, David Couey of Decatur; 22 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Cheathem officiating. Interment will follow in Candies Creek Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Jeff Pierce, Aaron McCann, Jason McCann, Tim Smith, Michael Payne and Slick McCormack will serve as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
