Posey G. Rollins, 86, a longtime resident of Cleveland passed away Monday April 21, 2008 at the family residence. Mr. Rollins was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Rollins worked as a finisher of hardwood floors for 52 years, he had worked hard all of his life until his recent illness.
He served as Sgt. with the United States Army during World War II. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal. He was a member of the V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Rollins and Eva Barber Rollins and one son, Clifford E. Rollins.
Mr. Rollins is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Rollins of Cleveland; sons, Robert Rollins of Harriman, Eugene Rollins, Timmy Rollins and Paul Rollins all of GA., daughters, Brenda Cisson, Becky Norton of Knoxville, Patty Lancaster, Sherry Lawson, Bonnie Townsend and Laura Fisher all of Cleveland; 23 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special nephew, Billy Tilley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 23, 2008 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Marshall Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Chris Pelfrey, Tyler Pelfrey, Ronnie Davis, Miles Holcomb, Michael Rollins and Craig Lawson.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
