Ms Gladys W. Pierce

February 7, 1922 — November 2, 2008

Gladys Pearl "Mamaw" Pierce, 86, was called away from her loving family here on earth, Sunday, November 2, 2008, to eternally be with our Heavenly Father and loving family waiting for her in heaven. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, mamaw, grandma, goldie, aunt and friend to those who knew her and cared for her. She will be sadly missed but happily remembered by all. She was the oldest living member of New Salem Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents James E. Willis and Ethel L. Sandidge Willis; her husband Charles "Ed"Pierce, her son, William Curran "Buddy" Pierce; two sisters: Alice Morrison and Mamie Pell and one brother, Willard Willis.

She is survived by her son James "Jim" Edward Pierce and his wife Charlotte of Jacksonville, FL and her daughter Sue Rogers of Cleveland; four grandchildren: Jody Pierce, Niles Pierce, Divina Goins and Charlene Pierce, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and one very special great nephew, Mark Cameron.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at New Salem Baptist Church with Reverend A.C. Cooper and Reverend Mark Cameron officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Jody Pierce, Niles Pierce, Chad Cameron, Don Hallmark, Henry Eaton and Bill Rutledge will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlene Pierce and Larry Goins.

Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Fike Funeral Home.
